How to Get Great Software for Less - in Time for the Holidays!
Here is a little pre-holiday gift for you!
I’ve worked in Higher Education for about 2 years now and discovered this after starting my Job at the University of Richmond. But you don’t have to work in Higher Education to take advantage of great savings.
Are you a student, parent or educator? Did you know that many popular software titles are available for a fraction of their retail cost for valid legal legit licenses? And many corporations arrange for special deals for their employees as well. So ask your employer.
Academic Superstore - This is about as close to one stop shop for software for academics. The cool part is that many titles are available for students in K12 and in some cases preschoolers and home-schoolers. So if you are a parent of a student you can get that perfect software title for them (or yourself) for the holidays.
Here are three examples:
| Title | Retail | Price | Qualifies |
| Office Professional | $560 | $196 |
Students, Faculty and Staff k12-Hi Ed Full and Part Time Students, Faculty and Staff - Preschool and Home School |
| Adobe Photoshop Extended CS4 | $999 | $298 |
Students, Faculty and Staff k12-Hi Ed Full and Part Time Students - Home School |
|
Painter X with FREE! Jeremy Sutton Training DVD |
$429 | $99 |
Students, Faculty and Staff k12-Hi Ed Full and Part Time Students - Home School Staff at Non-Profit, Library or Museum |
Academic Superstore and other education discount sellers offer mac and PC versions. You will have to prove that you qualify which in many cases requires a letter on letterhead or a copy of your student’s schedule for this year. So start early if you want to use this approach for the Holidays. Please follow the rules. These types of retailers are legit and this is one of the biggest.
And no I don’t work for them and I don’t get any $ from telling you about this. I only like getting software and more for less than retail.
